Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale is a mid-range Hilton hotel on Mathilda Avenue, just south of Highway 101 in the Peery Park area of Sunnyvale. It is a classic business-travel hotel: a heated outdoor pool, a fitness center, a restaurant and bar called Kitchen at Peery Park and parking on site. Two details stand out for travelers near Palo Alto. EV charging is listed with no extra charge and the hotel takes both dogs and cats. Downtown Sunnyvale and its Caltrain station are about a mile and a half away.

This profile is based on Hilton's official page for the hotel, checked in early November 2026. We do not publish star ratings or reviews. Fees below are what Hilton listed and can change. For live rates, check Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale on Booking.com or book with Hilton.

Food nearby

Downtown Sunnyvale is the closest restaurant district, about 1.5 miles south. Historic Murphy Avenue is a single car-free block next to the Caltrain station. Our Sunnyvale food guide, updated November 1, 2026, lists Dishdash for Middle Eastern food, Meyhouse for Turkish meze, Mayan Kitchen, Gumba's Italian, Ramen Seas, Thai Basil and Fibbar MaGees, an Irish pub. Moods Wine Bar and Bistro is nearby at 111 W. Evelyn Avenue after its move from Palo Alto.

On Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Sunnyvale farmers market sets up at Murphy and Washington avenues, year-round and rain or shine. It is a good stop for fruit and pastries. Our Sunnyvale guide covers the market and the Heritage Park Museum.

Things to do nearby

The hotel is a practical base for a few South Bay sights that are awkward to reach from Palo Alto:

  • The Computer History Museum in Mountain View, which Hilton lists about 3.7 miles away. It is the best single stop for Silicon Valley history.
  • The Intel Museum at 2200 Mission College Boulevard in Santa Clara, free and open on weekdays.
  • Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum and the orchard beside it, a reminder that this was fruit country before it was chip country.
  • Baylands Park in north Sunnyvale, with picnic areas and levee trails along the bay.

Stanford and downtown Palo Alto are still an easy day trip by car or Caltrain, so you can mix campus visits with these South Bay stops on the same trip.

Who it suits

  • EV drivers who want charging without a daily surcharge.
  • Travelers with a cat or dog, since many hotels take only dogs.
  • Business travelers heading to Sunnyvale, Moffett Park or Mountain View offices.
  • Hilton Honors members collecting points on a practical trip.
  • Visitors who like a short hop to Murphy Avenue for dinner.

It is a weaker fit for visitors whose days are all at Stanford. For those trips, the Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto on El Camino Real is much closer. Our Menlo Park and Mountain View guide covers other choices between the two.

Booking tips

  1. Count parking. Add the daily fee to each night when comparing hotels.
  2. Check pet fees by length of stay. The fee rises for stays of five nights or more.
  3. Watch for big events in Santa Clara. Games and concerts at Levi's Stadium, next to Great America (which Hilton lists about 3.8 miles away), can lift rates nearby.
  4. Ask about breakfast. Rates with and without breakfast can differ by more than the cost of eating out.
  5. Compare Sunnyvale hotels. You can compare Sunnyvale hotels on Hotels.com for your dates.
