On this page
The Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto is a practical, modern business hotel on the south end of El Camino Real. It covers what most work trips need: free Wi-Fi, a restaurant and bar, a fitness center, an indoor pool and covered parking with EV chargers. It sits almost equally close to Stanford and to the Mountain View tech campuses, which is its main appeal. For Hilton Honors members, it is the brand's most practical option in south Palo Alto.
This profile is based on Hilton's official pages for the hotel. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto on Booking.com or book through Hilton.
Location and neighborhood
The hotel's address is 4216 El Camino Real, in the 94306 ZIP code. It shares a short, hotel-heavy stretch of the road with Dinah's Garden Hotel, the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto and Homewood Suites, all within a few minutes' walk. The Los Altos and Mountain View lines are close by. Behind El Camino Real, the streets are residential. See our South Palo Alto guide for the area.
Hilton publishes this list of distances from the hotel:
| Destination | Distance (Hilton) |
|---|---|
| 3.3 miles | |
| Shoreline Amphitheatre | 3.3 miles |
| Stanford University | 3.4 miles |
| Junior Museum and Zoo | 3.5 miles |
| Cantor Arts Center | 3.8 miles |
| Palo Alto farmers market | 3.8 miles |
In practice, that means a car or rideshare for most outings. A few restaurants and shops are within walking distance on El Camino Real itself.
Getting there from Caltrain and the airports
The nearest Caltrain stop is San Antonio station in Mountain View, under a mile away in a straight line. Weekday local and limited trains stop there; express trains do not. Every weekend train is a local. Most guests take a short rideshare from the station rather than walk with luggage.
VTA Route 22 and Rapid 522 run along El Camino Real and connect the hotel with the Palo Alto Transit Center to the north and Mountain View to the south. Our VTA bus guide covers both.
Hilton lists San Jose Mineta International about 15 miles away, San Francisco International about 25 miles and Oakland about 35 miles. The hotel does not run an airport shuttle.
- From SJC: drive or take a rideshare, usually 20 to 35 minutes outside rush hour. By transit, ride the free VTA Route 60 to Santa Clara Transit Center and Caltrain north to San Antonio. Our SJC guide has the details.
- From SFO: take BART to Millbrae, then Caltrain south to San Antonio or Mountain View. See our SFO guide.
Rooms and amenities
Hilton's pages describe rooms with an oversized work space, an HDTV, a Keurig coffee brewer, a mini-refrigerator and a microwave, plus free Wi-Fi. All rooms are nonsmoking. A fee applies for smoking indoors. The front desk can point you to designated outdoor smoking areas. Pet-friendly rooms and connecting rooms are available. Cribs can be requested.
Property amenities listed by Hilton:
- Indoor pool. Useful on cool evenings and in the rainy months.
- Fitness center.
- Meeting rooms and flexible event space for small groups.
- Digital Key, which lets Hilton Honors members use the app to open their room.
- Streaming entertainment on room TVs.
Hilton does not list a room count or specific room categories on its main pages. Search with your dates to see the bed types on offer, or call the hotel if you need a particular layout. Childcare is not offered.
Dining on site
The hotel's restaurant is The Kitchen at Palo Alto. Hilton describes American food made with locally sourced ingredients, with indoor and outdoor seating. It serves breakfast, happy hour and dinner. There is a bar and a kids menu. A full breakfast is available for a fee, so check whether your rate includes it.
For a wider choice, downtown Mountain View's Castro Street is a short drive south and has dozens of restaurants. Our Mountain View food guide is a good place to start. Nearer still, Dinah's Garden Hotel next door has a poolside restaurant and THE SEA by Alexander's Steakhouse.

Shoreline Park and its lake are about 10 minutes away by car. The Computer History Museum in Mountain View is close by too.
A rental car makes this location far more useful. You can compare rental cars with Discover Cars before you land.
