On this page
Courtyard by Marriott Sunnyvale Silicon Valley is a mid-size business hotel on West El Camino Real, a few blocks south of downtown Sunnyvale. Marriott describes it as recently renovated, with modernized rooms and a refreshed lobby. It has two features many nearby hotels lack: an outdoor pool with a whirlpool and EV chargers. The Sunnyvale Caltrain station is under a mile away, close enough to walk on a dry day. For Palo Alto visitors it is a practical middle option, closer to the train than the freeway hotels and with more facilities than the motels on El Camino Real.
This profile is based on Marriott's official page for the hotel, checked on November 3, 2026. We do not publish star ratings or reviews. Fees listed here can change. One of them appeared twice with different amounts, so we flag it below. For live prices, check Courtyard Sunnyvale on Booking.com or book with Marriott.

Our road estimates assume El Camino Real or Central Expressway. Highway 101 is closer to the north and can be quicker outside peak hours. At 8 a.m. on a weekday, plan for 40 minutes or more to reach Stanford. See commuting between Palo Alto and Sunnyvale for the trade-offs.
Getting to Palo Alto without a car
Marriott lists both the Sunnyvale and Mountain View Caltrain stations as nearby. Sunnyvale is the closer one, about a 15 to 20 minute walk north. Trains to Palo Alto take roughly 10 to 15 minutes and the ride stays inside one fare zone. From Palo Alto station, the free Marguerite shuttle serves Stanford on weekdays. Our Caltrain guide covers Clipper cards and the timetable.
VTA Route 22 and the limited-stop Rapid 522 run along El Camino Real outside the hotel and continue to the Palo Alto Transit Center. They are slower than the train but need no walk to the station. The hotel offers no airport shuttle. Marriott lists San Jose airport at 10.4 miles.
Rooms
Marriott does not publish a room count. It lists standard rooms, suites and accessible rooms for guests with mobility and hearing needs. Courtyard rooms are built for work trips, with a desk and a proper chair. Marriott says the renovation brought new room designs. Here is what Marriott listed:
- Check-in and checkout. 3 p.m. and 11 a.m., an hour earlier than many hotels.
- Minimum age. 18 to check in.
- Wi-Fi. Free, with Bonvoy members getting free in-room internet when they book direct.
- Front desk. Open 24 hours.
- Smoking. The property is smoke-free.
Pool, parking, EV charging and pets
- Pool. An outdoor pool and a whirlpool. Hours are not posted online.
- Fitness. A free fitness center.
- Parking. Self parking at $20 a day or $140 a week, as listed in November 2026. No valet is listed.
- EV charging. Chargers on site, subject to availability. No fee is posted on the overview page.
- Pets. Up to two pets, each up to 60 pounds. Marriott's page gave two fees: $100 per stay in its FAQ and $50 per pet per stay with a $150 cap in another section. Ask the hotel which applies.
- Other services. Guest laundry, a business center, a small convenience store and free coffee and tea in the lobby.
Confirm the details on the official Marriott page before you travel.
Dining on site
The Bistro is the hotel's restaurant and bar. It serves breakfast through the evening, with Starbucks coffee drinks in the morning and cocktails and local beer later. Marriott's FAQ says breakfast is not free, so it is a paid meal unless your rate includes it. The page counts two dining outlets but names only The Bistro. Expect a casual menu rather than a destination dinner.
Food nearby
Downtown Sunnyvale is the easy dinner run. Murphy Avenue is roughly a mile north and became a pedestrian street in 2023. Our Sunnyvale food guide confirmed these places open on November 1, 2026:
- Gumba's Italian at 176 S. Murphy Avenue, pasta, pizza and seafood.
- Ramen Seas at 173 Murphy Avenue.
- Meyhouse at 187 S. Murphy Avenue, Turkish meze and grill.
- Alma Dessert at 165 S. Murphy Avenue for tiramisu and boba.
- Philz Coffee at 125 S. Frances Street for coffee.
Closer to the hotel, El Camino Real itself has strip-mall restaurants within a few minutes' drive in both directions, useful for a quick takeout meal on a late arrival. Grocery stores along the road also help if you are staying a week and want breakfast in the room rather than at The Bistro.
Castro Street in Mountain View is about 3 miles west and has a much longer restaurant row. Our Mountain View food guide lists picks there.
Who Courtyard Sunnyvale suits
- Families who want a pool and a whirlpool after a day of sightseeing.
- EV drivers who want charging at the hotel.
- Owners of medium dogs up to 60 pounds.
- Business travelers with meetings in Sunnyvale, Mountain View or at the Google and NASA Ames side of Moffett Field.
- Week-long visitors, since the weekly parking rate is lower than seven daily charges.
If you want to walk out the door onto a restaurant street and a train platform, Aloft Sunnyvale is closer to both but lists no pool. For more pools across the area, see our guide to hotels with pools.
Booking tips
- Ask for the weekly parking rate. At $140 a week as listed, it beats paying $20 a day for seven nights.
- Settle the pet fee in writing. Because Marriott's page shows two amounts, get the hotel to confirm the fee by email.
- Plan for the 11 a.m. checkout. Ask for a late checkout if you have an afternoon flight.
- Check event dates. Large conferences in Santa Clara and summer concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre lift rates across the area.
- Compare prices. You can compare Sunnyvale hotels on Hotels.com to see the Courtyard next to its neighbors.
