On this page
Hotel Zico is a hotel on El Camino Real in Mountain View with a Mediterranean look and a simple offer: breakfast and parking are free. It belongs to the BW Signature Collection, the Best Western label for independently owned hotels with their own names and style. The hotel also lists a weeknight wine hour and a courtyard fire pit. It has no pool and no restaurant. At about 7 miles from downtown Palo Alto in a straight line, it sits at the outer edge of what we cover, so it works best for trips centered on Mountain View.
This profile draws on the hotel's own website and Best Western's page for the property, both checked November 1, 2026. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check Hotel Zico on Booking.com or book through Best Western, where Best Western Rewards members earn points.

Getting there
The nearest Caltrain stop is Mountain View station at the top of Castro Street, about a mile away. It is an express stop and also serves VTA light rail, so Palo Alto is about 10 minutes north by train. From the station, a short rideshare or a 25-minute walk reaches the hotel. VTA buses run along El Camino Real; our VTA bus guide explains the routes.
- From SJC: the closer airport, about 11 miles. See our SJC guide.
- From SFO: about 26 miles by road. Our SFO guide covers BART and Caltrain.
Neither the hotel's site nor Best Western's page mentions an airport shuttle.
Rooms
Neither official page publishes a room count or room sizes. The hotel's site lists in-room Keurig coffee makers with Starbucks coffee. Best Western lists free Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas. Check the booking screen for the room types and bed configurations on sale for your dates. If you need an accessible room, call the hotel to confirm the exact features.

Food nearby
With no restaurant on site, plan dinner nearby. El Camino Real has restaurants in both directions within a short walk or drive. Castro Street, Mountain View's main restaurant street, runs north from El Camino Real to the train station. Its blocks near the station are car-free and hold the biggest cluster of restaurants and bars in town. Our Castro Street guide explains the layout and our Mountain View food guide picks places by cuisine.
On Sunday mornings, the Mountain View farmers market sets up in the Caltrain station lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is one of the largest in the region and an easy breakfast outing from the hotel.
A day in Palo Alto from Hotel Zico
If part of your trip is in Palo Alto, the train usually beats the drive at rush hour. A simple plan:
- Get to Mountain View station. It is about a mile from the hotel by rideshare, bus or on foot. Leave the car in the hotel's free lot.
- Ride Caltrain north. Palo Alto station is about 10 minutes away on most trains. Our Caltrain guide explains fares and Clipper.
- Walk University Avenue. Downtown Palo Alto's restaurants, cafes and shops start at the station.
- Reach Stanford. The free Marguerite shuttle runs from Palo Alto station to campus on weekdays. On weekends, the walk up Palm Drive to the Main Quad takes about 25 minutes.
Check the last train back before dinner. Evening service is thinner than at rush hour. A rideshare back to El Camino Real in Mountain View takes about 15 to 20 minutes without traffic. If you would rather drive, downtown Palo Alto's public garages are the easiest place to park; our downtown parking guide explains the permit and time limits.
Who Hotel Zico suits
- Value seekers who want breakfast and parking in the rate.
- Business travelers visiting Mountain View, Los Altos or Sunnyvale offices by car.
- Best Western Rewards members who want points near Silicon Valley.
- Road trippers who want an underground parking option.
It is less suited to visitors whose plans center on Palo Alto or Stanford. Those trips are better served from hotels closer in; our guide to staying near Stanford lists them. It also does not suit families who want a pool or travelers with pets.
Booking tips
- Factor in the free extras. Breakfast and parking can make Zico cheaper overall than a hotel with a lower room rate.
- Visit Monday to Thursday if the wine hour matters to you.
- Settle the pet question by phone. The official pages disagree.
- Compare the neighbors. Hotel Strata is a few blocks west on El Camino Real. Compare Mountain View hotels on Expedia to check both.
