AC Hotel Sunnyvale Cupertino is a Marriott hotel on East El Camino Real, on the south side of Sunnyvale near the Santa Clara line. The name is a little misleading. The hotel is in Sunnyvale, not Cupertino, but it is close enough to Apple Park and the Cupertino tech offices that Marriott pairs the two cities. AC Hotels is Marriott's Spanish-born brand, built around clean-lined rooms, a lobby bar with tapas-style plates and a European breakfast. For a Palo Alto visitor this is a driving hotel. It suits a trip split between Stanford and the South Bay, especially if you need EV charging.

This profile is based on Marriott's official page for the hotel, checked on November 3, 2026. We do not publish star ratings or reviews. Fees are what Marriott listed that day and can change. For live rates, check AC Hotel Sunnyvale Cupertino on Booking.com or book with Marriott.

Location and distances

The address is 597 East El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. This part of El Camino Real is a wide commercial road lined with shopping centers, auto dealers and restaurants. You can walk to a few strip-mall restaurants, but most trips here start in the car. The underground garage keeps that easy.

Road distances are our estimates. El Camino Real runs straight to Palo Alto but has dozens of lights. Central Expressway or Highway 101 is usually faster outside rush hour. On weekday mornings allow 45 minutes or more to reach Stanford. Our traffic guide covers the worst windows.

Getting to Palo Alto without a car

Marriott lists the Sunnyvale Caltrain station and VTA bus route 22, which runs along El Camino Real, as the nearest transit. The Sunnyvale station is about a mile north, a 20 to 25 minute walk or a short rideshare. From there, trains reach Palo Alto in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Sunnyvale and Palo Alto share a Caltrain fare zone, so it is a one-zone ride. Our VTA bus guide explains route 22 and Clipper fares.

Route 22 and the limited-stop Rapid 522 also run up El Camino Real to the Palo Alto Transit Center by the Caltrain station. They are cheap and direct, but they take much longer than the train. The hotel does not run a shuttle. Marriott suggests Uber for airport trips.

Rooms

Marriott does not publish a room count. It describes minimalist guest rooms and suites. Its gallery shows a queen/queen room. AC rooms tend to be compact, with hard floors, a desk and good lighting rather than extra furniture. Marriott lists these terms:

  • Check-in and checkout. 3 p.m. and noon.
  • Minimum age. 18 to check in.
  • Housekeeping. Every other day, so ask the front desk if you want daily service.
  • Wi-Fi. Free for Marriott Bonvoy members.
  • Smoking. The property is smoke-free.

Parking, EV charging, pets and fitness

  • Parking. Underground self parking for a daily fee, listed at $22 in November 2026. No valet is listed.
  • EV charging. Marriott lists an electric car charging station, subject to availability, without a posted fee. Ask at check-in how many chargers there are and whether they cost extra.
  • Pets. Up to two pets, each up to 50 pounds. Marriott listed $100 for the first pet and $50 for each additional pet.
  • Fitness. A free 24-hour gym with Peloton bikes.
  • Pool. Not listed.
  • Meetings. Marriott lists 1,126 square feet of meeting space, enough for small team sessions.
  • Green building. Marriott describes the hotel as LEED Silver certified.

Check the official Marriott page before you book, since parking and pet fees change.

Dining on site

The AC Lounge is the lobby bar. In the evening it serves cocktails, local craft beer, wine and small tapas-style plates. Mornings belong to the AC Kitchen, the brand's breakfast room. Marriott's FAQ says breakfast is not free, so budget for it unless your rate includes it. Marriott does not post hours for either outlet on its overview page, so ask at the desk.

Food nearby

Two good food areas are a short drive away. Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale is about a mile north. Its car-free block has Turkish, Mayan, Thai and pub food, listed in our Sunnyvale food guide. A few picks confirmed open in early November 2026:

  • Thai Basil at 101 S. Murphy Avenue.
  • Mayan Kitchen at 139 S. Murphy Avenue.
  • Dishdash at 190 S. Murphy Avenue, Middle Eastern plates.
  • The Oxford Kitchen and Gastropub at 195 S. Murphy Avenue.

East along El Camino Real, Santa Clara's Korean restaurant strip starts within a few miles. Jang Su Jang at 3561 El Camino Real in Santa Clara is the best known, with Korean barbecue and Michelin Guide recognition noted by Discover Santa Clara. For more, see our Santa Clara food guide. Main Street Cupertino, with Lazy Dog, Eureka!, Alexander's Steakhouse and Pacific Catch on Stevens Creek Boulevard, is about 3 miles south.

Who AC Hotel Sunnyvale Cupertino suits

  • Visitors to Apple and other Cupertino and Sunnyvale offices who want a Marriott a few minutes away.
  • EV drivers, since many nearby hotels list no chargers.
  • Dog owners with pets up to 50 pounds who prefer a flat fee per stay over a nightly charge.
  • Travelers splitting time between Stanford, Santa Clara and San Jose.

It is a poor fit if you want to walk to dinner or ride Caltrain every day. Marriott has a second AC Hotel in Sunnyvale. The AC Hotel Sunnyvale Moffett Park sits in the office district north of Highway 101, so pick by where your meetings are. For a base inside Palo Alto, our El Camino Real hotel guide lists options closer to Stanford.

Booking tips

  1. Add parking to the rate. At about $22 a day, a five-night stay adds more than $100. Hotels with free parking can work out cheaper.
  2. Confirm the charger. Chargers listed as subject to availability can be taken when you arrive. Ask whether you can reserve one.
  3. Mind the name. Booking sites list both Sunnyvale AC Hotels. Check the address before you pay.
  4. Watch weekday peaks. Business demand pushes Monday to Thursday prices up. Weekends are often cheaper.
  5. Compare sites. You can compare Sunnyvale hotels on Hotels.com for your dates.
