About Palo Alto Eyes Optometry
Palo Alto Eyes Optometry is an independent eye care office in downtown Palo Alto. It is at 540 University Avenue, in Suite 110. The practice says it has served the Palo Alto community since 1983. Its website carries a 2026 copyright, an online appointment request form and a small online shop.
The practice describes itself as offering eye care and eyewear for the whole family. It combines an optometry clinic, where doctors do exams and fit contact lenses, with an optical shop that sells frames and sunglasses. The older address paloaltoeyes.com now points visitors to the main site at paloaltoeyes.net.

The optometrists
The Meet the Team page lists two doctors. Dr. Thazin (Jayne) Aung graduated with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2014. The page says she diagnoses and manages eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. She is a certified Orthokeratology practitioner and fits specialty lenses for corneal conditions such as keratoconus. Before optometry school she studied at UC Santa Cruz. Born in Myanmar, she moved to Boston at age ten and later went to high school in Fremont.
Dr. Amy Zheng earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She then completed a cornea and contact lens residency at The Ohio State University, with training in corneal disease, specialty lenses and myopia management. The team page says she gave continuing education lectures during her residency and presented posters at national meetings, including the Global Specialty Lens Symposium and the American Academy of Optometry. The team page also mentions staff who help with eyewear, scheduling and billing questions.
Eyewear
The optical side of the office sells prescription frames and sunglasses for men and women. The eyewear page also mentions prescription safety glasses, sports eyewear and computer glasses meant to ease eye strain at a desk. Walk-in browsing is welcome, according to the page. Brands change, so ask the staff what is in stock.
Booking and insurance
You can call 650-321-2015 or use the Request an Appointment form on the website. The form lets you pick a preferred time. The office says it will contact you to confirm. New patient forms are on the Patient Forms page. The site also has a Patient Center with insurance details, current promotions and a blog of eye health articles, plus a contact form for general questions.
On insurance, the practice states that it takes VSP. It notes that plans and coverage vary widely, so it asks patients to call. Staff will verify and explain your benefits before the visit at no charge. If your plan is not VSP, call before booking to avoid surprises.
