The school says it has served the Palo Alto community since 1989. Programs

Private lessons

Students perform in recitals at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, SCU Recital Hall and the Palo Alto Art Center. The school also prepares students for music assessments, listing NATS, Certificate of Merit, RCM, ABRSM, ASTA, Guild and Carnegie Hall Achievement programs.

Some students travel for concerts. The school reports that its students performed at the Musikverein in Vienna in July 2024 and at Carnegie Hall in July 2025. In 2026 they performed in Heidelberg and at Solti Hall in Budapest. A summer 2027 concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam is planned.

How to enroll

  • Trial lesson. The school offers a 30-minute trial lesson and says it is free if you enroll. Sign up through the private lesson enrollment page on its website.
  • Spring 2027. Enrollment for spring 2027 private lessons and For the Love of Singing opened on October 26, 2026.
  • Billing. Lessons are month to month with no long-term commitment. Tuition is on the school's tuition page.
  • Contact. Call 650-324-2373 or text 408-520-1585. The website posts office hours, but two sections give different times, so call to confirm before you drop in.

Who it suits

The range of programs means the school can take a child from a first group class at age 3 through private lessons and formal exams in the teenage years. Adults are welcome too, since the private lesson age range runs to 99. Families who want a structured path with recitals and assessments will find those built in. Students who simply want to play for fun can take month-to-month lessons without signing up for exams.

Tips for families

Ask about trial lessons, teacher availability and age guidelines before you commit, especially for younger children choosing between private lessons and a group class. If your child is preparing for a Certificate of Merit or ABRSM exam, ask which teachers work with that program. The school's website also has parent articles on home practice, early childhood music and performance anxiety.
