On this page
The Residence Inn Palo Alto Mountain View carries Palo Alto in its name but sits on El Camino Real in Mountain View, less than 2 miles southeast of the Palo Alto city line. It is an all-suite Marriott made for longer trips: every suite has a full kitchen, breakfast is included and the gym was recently renovated with Peloton bikes. It works well for anyone with business at Mountain View's tech campuses who also wants to reach Palo Alto and Stanford without much fuss.
This profile is based on Marriott's official pages for the hotel. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check the Residence Inn Mountain View on Booking.com or book through Marriott, where Bonvoy members earn points.
Location and neighborhood
The address is 1854 El Camino Real West, Mountain View, CA 94040. That is on the west side of Mountain View, roughly between the San Antonio Road shopping district and downtown. El Camino Real here is a broad commercial road lined with restaurants, shops and offices. Residential streets fill the blocks behind it.
Marriott pitches the location for its access to Google, Apple Park, Intuit, Stanford and several hospitals. It also lists Shoreline Amphitheatre, the Computer History Museum, California's Great America and downtown Palo Alto among nearby sights. In practice:
- Downtown Mountain View and Castro Street are about a mile east, a short drive or a long walk.
- San Antonio Center, including the newer Village at San Antonio Center, is about a mile northwest, with groceries, restaurants and a cinema.
- Downtown Palo Alto is about 5 miles northwest in a straight line.
- The Computer History Museum and Google's North Bayshore campus are a few miles north, across Highway 101.
For an overview of the town, see our Mountain View guide.
Getting there from Caltrain and the airports
Two Caltrain stations are about the same distance away. Mountain View station is about 1 mile east in a straight line. It is where express trains stop and the VTA Orange Line light rail ends. San Antonio station is about 1.2 miles north and is served by local and limited trains only. Marriott also notes a VTA bus stop nearby. VTA Route 22 and Rapid 522 run along El Camino Real toward Palo Alto and San Jose.
Marriott lists these airport distances. The hotel does not run a shuttle:
| Airport | Distance (Marriott) | Transit option |
|---|---|---|
| San Jose Mineta International (SJC) | 8 miles | Free VTA Route 60 to Santa Clara, then Caltrain north to Mountain View |
| San Francisco International (SFO) | 30 miles | BART to Millbrae, then Caltrain south to Mountain View |
| Oakland San Francisco Bay (OAK) | 50 miles | Most travelers drive |
Marriott's mileage figures are its own and may follow driving routes. Marriott also lists paid taxi options from SJC and SFO. Our SJC guide and SFO guide compare trains, rideshare and Waymo.

Castro Street, about a mile east, is Mountain View's main dining street. The San Antonio shopping centers to the northwest cover big grocery runs. Our Mountain View food guide has picks by cuisine.

- Fitness-minded guests who want a Peloton on site.

What is nearby
For downtime, Shoreline Park is the big open space nearby, a 10 to 15 minute drive north across Highway 101. It has a lake with boat rentals, long bay-side paths and good birding. The Stevens Creek Trail runs north from central Mountain View to the bay and is popular with runners and cyclists. In summer, concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre bring heavy traffic on show nights, so plan evening drives around the event calendar. On Sunday mornings the farmers market at the Mountain View Caltrain station lot is a good place to stock the kitchen with produce, bread and eggs.
Booking tips
- Mind the name. Booking sites list it under Palo Alto, but you will be driving or riding into Palo Alto each day.
- Ask about long-term parking. It can lower the cost of a multi-week stay.
- Bring a charging plan. With no EV chargers on site, look up public chargers nearby before you arrive.
- Rent a car or plan on rideshare. The stations are a mile off. Compare rental cars with Discover Cars if you will be moving around the Peninsula.
