On this page
The Hampton Inn & Suites Mountain View is a practical, mid-priced Hilton brand hotel with one standout feature for visitors without a car: it is a short walk from the Mountain View Caltrain station and the restaurants of Castro Street. Breakfast and parking are both free, which is rare this close to Palo Alto. Hilton labels the hotel recently renovated. It suits travelers who want to reach Palo Alto, Stanford and San Francisco by train while staying in a lively downtown with plenty of dinner options.
This profile is based on Hilton's official page for the hotel. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check the Hampton Inn Mountain View on Booking.com or book through Hilton, where Hilton Honors members earn points.

Getting there from Caltrain and the airports
Mountain View station is about 0.3 miles from the hotel in a straight line. It is one of the best-served stops on the line: weekday express trains stop there. It is also the northern end of the VTA Orange Line light rail. From the station, Palo Alto station is a short ride north. San Francisco is roughly an hour away on an express.
- From SFO: take BART to Millbrae and Caltrain south to Mountain View, then walk to the hotel. Our SFO guide has the details.
- From SJC: SJC is the closer airport, about 9 miles away per Hilton. Take the free VTA Route 60 to Santa Clara Transit Center and Caltrain north to Mountain View, or take a rideshare. See our SJC guide.
Hilton says the hotel does not offer an airport shuttle.

Breakfast is covered by the hotel. For the rest of the day, Castro Street starts just across Central Expressway. It is Mountain View's main dining street, with a long run of restaurants, from noodle shops to Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean food, plus bars and dessert shops. Our Mountain View food guide sorts the options by cuisine.
On Sunday mornings the Mountain View farmers market sets up in the Caltrain station lot, a few minutes' walk from the hotel. It runs year-round.

What is nearby
Downtown Mountain View is the main attraction: Castro Street's restaurants, the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and the Sunday market are all on foot. The Computer History Museum is about 1.5 miles away and makes a good half-day visit. Shoreline Park and Shoreline Lake are a short drive north, with trails along the bay. On summer concert nights, traffic around Shoreline Amphitheatre builds quickly, so leave early or ride a bike.
Booking tips
- Use the train. With free parking you can bring a car, but Caltrain to Palo Alto avoids the hunt for downtown parking.
- Check for Shoreline shows. Summer concerts can fill hotels across Mountain View.
- Ask about suites. Hilton's page does not describe them, so call to confirm the layout before you book one.
