About Kali Greek Kitchen

Kali Greek Kitchen is a casual Greek restaurant at 451 California Avenue, at the El Camino Real end of the Cal Ave strip. It has served the street since 2017. It was first announced as Kali Greek Grill. That name still turns up on some listings, but the restaurant uses Kali Greek Kitchen on its website and ordering pages.

The restaurant comes from Caglar Vural, who also owns Cafe Brioche nearby on California Avenue. When the Mountain View Voice reported his plans in 2016, he described a simple Greek restaurant serving organic, casual Greek food made from locally sourced ingredients, with wine and beer mostly from Greece. The space had been empty for more than two years after Uzumaki Sushi closed. Kali opened there the following year.

Kali's online menu is organized the way most people order Greek food for lunch. There are pitas and rice plates, which are the core of the menu, plus combos that pair a main with sides. Salads and soups cover lighter meals. Dips and sides fill out the table, with extra side sauces you can add to any order. There are also desserts, a specials section that changes, soft drinks and a short list of beers and wines.

The online menu was last updated in September 2026, so it is a reliable guide to what is available now. Item names and fillings are shown when you build an order on the site. Menus change, so check there before you plan around a particular dish.

How to order

Kali's website is an online ordering site. You can order for pickup or delivery during opening hours and schedule an order in advance, which helps if you are feeding an office or picking up on the way home. The ordering site lists the same hours every day: 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. It also links to a catering page for larger groups.

The restaurant notes that it sells wine and beer, so bring ID if you plan to add a drink to an order.

Who it suits

Kali works best as a quick, casual meal. Pitas and rice plates make an easy weekday lunch for people working near California Avenue or Stanford Research Park. A combo or a few dips and sides can feed a small group at home. Greek menus usually include several meatless dishes, such as dips, salads and vegetable sides, but check the ordering site for details if you have dietary limits, since it shows what each dish contains.

For a group order, the combos are the simplest place to start. Add a few dips and sides for the table and a couple of extra side sauces. That gives you a spread that works for a small office lunch or a casual dinner at home. If you are feeding a larger group, look at the catering page first. It is less of a destination for a long, celebratory dinner. For that, the street has several sit-down restaurants within a few blocks.

Nearby on California Avenue

Kali sits on one of Palo Alto's two main restaurant streets. Cafe Brioche, from the same owner, is nearby. A few blocks toward the train station you will find iTalico, a sit-down Italian restaurant. You will also find Bar Underdog, a cocktail bar from the Protégé team. That makes it easy to grab a quick Greek lunch on a workday and come back to the same street for dinner or a drink another night.
