Getting to Palo Alto and Stanford
This is the strongest feature of the hotel. The Menlo Park station is a few minutes on foot and Palo Alto station is one stop south, inside the same fare zone. From Palo Alto station, Stanford's free Marguerite shuttle runs to campus on weekdays. Our Marguerite guide lists the lines.
By car, El Camino Real runs straight south past Stanford Shopping Center to the campus and the Stanford medical center, usually 10 to 15 minutes outside rush hour. Many guests also bike: the ride to downtown Palo Alto is under 2 miles and fairly flat.
For appointments at Stanford Hospital, the medical center on Welch Road is under 2 miles away in a straight line. Driving and parking there takes planning, so read our guide to visiting Stanford Hospital first. Evening Caltrain service is thinner than at rush hour, so check the last train if you head into San Francisco for dinner.

The hotel is all suites. Marriott describes each one with a balcony, a living area with a pull-out sofa bed, ergonomic workspaces and a kitchenette, with mentions of a fully equipped kitchen for simple meals. Dining on site
There is no restaurant. Breakfast is the only meal served and the convenience store covers snacks. The kitchenette is the point: buy groceries, cook simple dinners and save the restaurant budget for a few nights out. Draeger's Market, an upscale grocery with a bakery and deli, has its Menlo Park store downtown, a short walk away.
Food nearby
Santa Cruz Avenue, the main street of downtown Menlo Park, begins at El Camino Real a block from the station. Our Menlo Park food guide, updated October 30, 2026, lists these, all within about a 10 to 15 minute walk:
- Cafe Borrone at 1010 El Camino Real, breakfast, lunch and coffee beside Kepler's Books.
- Mademoiselle Colette at 816 Santa Cruz Avenue, French pastries.
- Yeobo, Darling at 827 Santa Cruz Avenue, a Korean dinner spot that is worth booking.
