Homewood Suites by Hilton Palo Alto is built for people who are staying more than a night or two. Every room is a suite with a full kitchen. Breakfast is free. There is an outdoor pool, a fitness center and covered parking with EV chargers. It stands near the southern edge of the city on El Camino Real, close to the Los Altos and Mountain View lines. Visiting researchers, interns, consultants and families supporting a patient often look at it for exactly those reasons.

This profile is based on Hilton's official pages for the hotel. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check Homewood Suites Palo Alto on Booking.com or book through Hilton, where longer stays sometimes come with special rates.

Location and neighborhood

The address is 4329 El Camino Real. It is one of the last hotels on El Camino Real before the road leaves Palo Alto. Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto, Dinah's Garden Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto are all within a few minutes' walk. Residential streets fill the blocks on either side. Our South Palo Alto guide explains the neighborhoods here.

Hilton lists these distances from the hotel:

  • Stanford Shopping Center: 4 miles
  • Rodin Sculpture Garden at Stanford: 4.5 miles
  • Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo: 5 miles
  • San Jose Mineta International Airport: 14 miles
  • San Francisco International Airport: 25 miles

Downtown Mountain View and its restaurants are closer than downtown Palo Alto. Los Altos's village center is also a short drive. A car or rideshare is the normal way to get around from here.

Getting there from Caltrain and the airports

The closest Caltrain stop is San Antonio station in Mountain View, well under a mile away in a straight line. Weekday local and limited trains stop there, as do all weekend trains. Weekday express trains skip it. From the station, it is a short rideshare or a walk of 15 to 20 minutes.

VTA Route 22 and Rapid 522 run on El Camino Real, linking the hotel with Mountain View, the Palo Alto Transit Center and Stanford Shopping Center. Our VTA bus guide covers schedules and fares.

  1. From SJC: about 14 miles. Drive or take a rideshare, or ride the free VTA Route 60 to Santa Clara Transit Center and Caltrain north to San Antonio. See our SJC guide.
  2. From SFO: about 25 miles. Take BART to Millbrae and Caltrain south. Our SFO guide covers the connection.

Hilton lists no airport shuttle.

Suites and kitchens

Hilton describes the rooms as spacious suites and says all of them include full kitchens and free Wi-Fi. The hotel's pages do not break the suites into named categories, so check the descriptions when you search for dates. Ask about bed types if you are traveling as a family or sharing with a colleague.

What Hilton lists across the property:

  • A full in-room kitchen in every suite.
  • Free Wi-Fi and streaming entertainment on the TV.
  • Nonsmoking suites only, with a fee for smoking indoors.
  • Pet-friendly suites.
  • Cribs and confirmed connecting rooms on request.
  • Digital Key for Hilton Honors members.

Hilton's page description also mentions a free grocery service. The hotel's amenity list does not explain how it works, so ask the front desk when you check in.

Amenities and breakfast

  • Breakfast. A free hot breakfast buffet in the breakfast area.
  • Snack shop. A small shop for drinks, snacks and basics.
  • Pool. An outdoor pool.
  • Fitness center. On site.
  • Business center. For printing and quick work.

The hotel has no full restaurant. Between the free breakfast and your own kitchen, that matters less here than at most hotels. For dinner out, Castro Street in Mountain View has a long restaurant row a short drive south. Our Mountain View food guide picks the best of it. For groceries, see our guide to groceries and specialty food.

Who Homewood Suites suits

  • Extended stays. Visiting scholars, interns, consultants and people between homes who want a kitchen and space to work.
  • Families. Suites give parents and children more room than a standard hotel room.
  • Business travelers splitting time between Palo Alto, Los Altos and Mountain View.
  • Pet owners, with dogs up to 75 pounds allowed.
  • Budget-minded travelers who want to save by cooking and eating the free breakfast.

It is less convenient for daily trips to Stanford's campus or medical center and for anyone without a car. For stays near the hospital, see our guide to visiting Stanford Hospital. For more options for weeks or months, read our long stays guide.

What is nearby

The neighborhood is quiet, which suits long stays. Pearson-Arastradero Preserve has easy trails a short drive west. Mitchell Park, with a library, a dog run and the Magical Bridge Playground, is a few minutes east. Downtown Los Altos and Castro Street in Mountain View are both close for dinner and errands.

For a stay of a month or more, a furnished home can work out cheaper. You can browse furnished homes on Vrbo and compare them with Homewood's long-stay rates.

Tips for a long stay

  1. Ask for a weekly or monthly rate. Extended-stay hotels often price longer bookings differently from single nights. Ask what is included, especially parking.
  2. Read the cancellation terms. Long bookings can carry stricter rules than a short stay.
  3. Stock the kitchen early. Supermarkets and specialty grocers are a short drive away on El Camino Real and in Mountain View and Los Altos.
  4. Plan your commute. If you work at Stanford Research Park or in Mountain View, test the drive at rush hour in your first week. El Camino Real slows down sharply at peak times.
  5. Use the outdoor time. Weekday evenings stay light into late summer, which leaves time for a walk at Arastradero or Shoreline after work.
  6. Know the busy weeks. Stanford commencement (June 10 to 13, 2027) and mid-September move-in push rates up across the Peninsula.
