citizenM Menlo Park is a tech-forward hotel on the edge of Meta's headquarters campus, close to the bay in the Belle Haven area of Menlo Park. It opened in late 2023 with 240 rooms. citizenM is a Dutch hotel brand known for compact rooms with very large beds, tablet controls and a living-room style lobby. Marriott bought the brand in 2025 and now lists and books citizenM hotels, including this one. The hotel's address, 2 Meta Way, makes its main audience obvious, but it is open to anyone.

For a Palo Alto visit it is a mid-distance option: about 4 miles by road from downtown, with free parking, which is rare this close to Palo Alto. This profile is based on Marriott's official page, checked in early November 2026, plus the December 2023 opening announcement. We do not publish star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check citizenM Menlo Park on Booking.com or book with citizenM or Marriott.

Location and distances

The address is 2 Meta Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025. The hotel stands at the western edge of Meta's campus, the part designed by Frank Gehry, near Bayfront Expressway and Willow Road. Marriott places a bus stop at Constitution Drive and Chilco Street about a minute away and lists Bedwell Bayfront Park as a short walk. Shops and restaurants are not within easy walking distance, so most guests drive or use rideshare.

Willow Road, the main route from the hotel toward Palo Alto, is often congested at commute times, when office traffic and Dumbarton Bridge traffic overlap. Plan around it. Our traffic guide explains the busy windows.

Getting to Palo Alto and Stanford

By car, take Willow Road or Bayfront Expressway to Highway 101, then exit at University Avenue or Embarcadero Road for downtown Palo Alto. Stanford is beyond downtown via University Avenue and Palm Drive. Parking at the hotel is free, which helps if you are driving every day.

Without a car, it is harder. The nearest Caltrain station, Menlo Park, is about 4 miles by road. Rideshare to Palo Alto station takes about 15 minutes off peak. On weekdays, the free Marguerite shuttle runs from Palo Alto station to the Stanford campus. Our Menlo Park station page covers the stop.

Rooms

citizenM uses one room design. Every room is built for two adults, with an XL king bed, a rainfall shower and a tablet that controls temperature, lighting, the TV and blackout blinds. Rooms are compact, so this is not the place for a family of four or a long stay with lots of luggage. Marriott also lists accessible features, including mobility-accessible rooms with roll-in showers.

  • Check-in and checkout. Check-in is at 2 p.m. and checkout at 11 a.m.
  • Minimum age. Guests must be 18 to check in.
  • Meetings. The opening announcement described societyM meeting rooms plus spaces for remote and in-person work.

Parking, EV charging, fitness and pets

  • Parking. Free on-site self parking with 118 stalls, 6 of them accessible. This is the strongest practical perk of the hotel.
  • EV charging. Marriott's parking section mentions 4 EV charging stations, but its FAQ says there are none. Ask the hotel before counting on a charge. Our EV charging guide lists public chargers in Palo Alto.
  • Fitness. A free 24-hour fitness center.
  • Pool. None listed.
  • Pets. Not allowed.

Check the official Marriott page for current policies before you book.

Dining on site

canteenM is open 24 hours. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and becomes a bar in the evening. Breakfast is a paid buffet that includes unlimited barista coffee from 6 to 11 a.m. Marriott lists two restaurants on site. For a quick dinner after a long day, canteenM saves a drive, which matters here because the hotel is not near a restaurant street.

Food nearby

The nearest sit-down choices off site are at University Circle in East Palo Alto, about 2 to 3 miles south by road, where the Four Seasons hotel runs Quattro. Our East Palo Alto food guide also covers taquerias such as Taqueria La Cazuela and Tacos Tolucos. For a bigger choice, drive to downtown Menlo Park on Santa Cruz Avenue, where our Menlo Park food guide, updated October 30, 2026, lists Cafe Borrone, Mademoiselle Colette at 816 Santa Cruz Avenue, Yeobo, Darling, the British Bankers Club and Amici's East Coast Pizzeria.

Things to do nearby

The bay shore is the best thing about this corner of Menlo Park:

  • Bedwell Bayfront Park, 1600 Marsh Road, is a free 160-acre park on a former landfill with a 2.3-mile perimeter loop that is part of the San Francisco Bay Trail. Gates open at 7 a.m. and dogs must stay on leash.
  • Ravenswood Open Space Preserve in East Palo Alto has a paved Bay Trail levee and a boardwalk for birding. Dogs are not allowed.
  • The Palo Alto Baylands, a short drive south, add marsh trails, the duck pond and the nature center.

Sunrise and sunset walks along the water make a good break between meetings. Bring a layer, since wind off the bay can make the shoreline feel much cooler than downtown Palo Alto.

Who it suits

  • Visitors to Meta who want to walk to meetings.
  • Drivers who value free parking within a few miles of Palo Alto.
  • Solo travelers and couples who like a compact, design-led room.
  • Night owls who want food and drinks at any hour.

It is not a fit for pet owners, families who need two beds or car-free visitors who want Caltrain on the doorstep. For walkable Menlo Park, see the Park James Hotel on El Camino Real.

Booking tips

  1. Expect a busy weekday. Meta business drives demand Monday to Thursday. Weekends may price lower.
  2. Book breakfast only if you need it. It is a paid buffet. Coffee is included with it.
  3. Confirm EV charging. The official page contradicts itself.
  4. Use the early check-in. Rooms are ready from 2 p.m., earlier than at most hotels nearby, which helps if you land at SFO in the morning. Checkout is at 11 a.m., so ask the front desk about holding bags if your flight leaves late.
  5. Compare nearby hotels. Hotel Nia is also on the bay side of Menlo Park. You can compare Menlo Park hotels on Expedia for your dates.
